I can guarantee you that whenever there is a sales spike on a wine there is always an explanation. For example, over the weekend we kept getting orders and calls for the Donnhoff Estate Riesling Nahe. Don’t get me wrong, Donnhoff get’s tons of press, but it’s only on the radar of the “wine geek.” I finally asked a customer about it and he said Donnhoff Estate Riesling Nahe was just mentioned in a Wall Street Journal article. Mystery solved!
Here’s the link to where the Donnhoff was mentioned. If you roll-over the dot it will give you a description of the wine as well as the price. Since we are on the topic of the price, they list a retail price of $22/bottle. I have it on sale for $15.95/bottle. In all honesty, this really is a great wine. In fact the wine maker has been named “German Wine Maker of the Year” multiple times. I just spoke to my salesman and he just said there has been a run on this wine, which is to be expected. It’s worth picking up a few bottles.
