Today I’ve decided to feature the Harpoon 100 Barrel Series #41 Catamount Maple Wheat. Harpoon was not the first company to brew a beer using maple syrup, but it’s the first one I’ve ever had. I’m not going to lie. I have a pretty good palate, but not an aficionado’s palate and sometimes I don’t always taste ingredients the brewery uses. For example, I don’t taste the bacon in the Uncommon Brewer’s Bacon Brown Ale. That being said, I was curious to see how much I would taste the maple syrup. Well, I can honestly say I was able to taste the maple syrup. It’s not overpowering by any means, but I was able to get a lot of caramel notes from the maple syrup. Here’s a video I found which goes in to a little more detail. I’m going to put Catamount Maple Wheat on sale for $4.99/bottle. Considering the price of Vermont maple syrup, I think this is a KILLER price.

In the beginning of the month, we ran a case special on the Castello di Volpaia Chianti Borgianni. This wine originally retailer for about $12/bottle, but we were closing it out for $60/case. Needless to say, we sold a TON of cases. However, whenever we feature a deal like this, we get a lot of phone calls from people asking us to “hold” a case for them. Unfortunately, not all of these cases get picked up. We call these “Flake” orders. Regardless, I still have to sell them, though.

When you bought the case, it brought the bottle price down to $5/bottle. I’m going to put my remaining “Flake” cases on sale for $4.99/bottle. Considering this bottle was $12.99, you are getting a great deal without having to commit to a case.

We just got in another small allocation of the Redbreast 12yr Cask Strength Irish Whiskey. This whiskey was rated 96pts by the Whisky Advocate and our original email sold out in a day. I was told the Redbreast 12yr Cask is going to be a year round item, but my distributor is already sold out with no expected arrival date. Stop in and get your bottle now.

I’m going to make a controversial, but true (imho) statement: Israel’s Psagot Winery represents THE BEST ‘across the board’ quality in the world of Kosher wine today. I was reminded of this when Brian and I hit their table at the 2012 Kosher Food & Wine Experience in NYC. They’re not cheap, but considering the heights to which Psagot has reached, you get MORE than what you paid for.

The 2009 Psagot Signature Cabernet Sauvignon-based Red, called ‘EDOM’, nailed 91 points from Wine Enthusiast. Regularly $40/bottle, I am slashing the price to $27.95, a 30% discount. For those of you who want the BEST from Israel, you NEED to JUMP on this offer. Inventory is lean on this one-ACT NOW.

Last week, I featured a wine and got in some big trouble. I’m not going to mention the item because I’m not looking to cause any more trouble. I say that, but I’m about to feature another item that will get me in just as much trouble. I guess I’m not a firm believer in “Live and Learn”.

There’s a big story surrounding the 2004 de Restia Ribera del Duero Crianza. I don’t know who, but this wine was brought into NJ exclusively for another retailer. Apparently, this retailer didn’t like the distributors’ price, so they backed out of the deal. That means I was able to get my hands on this GEM. Let me tell you something, this wine has TONS of pedigree. It was rated 93pts/Smart Buy by Wine Spectator, #23 in the WS Top 100 for 2011, named 1 of the Top 13 Spanish Wines of the Year and the #1 wine in the Old World Value Roundup. We will be putting it on sale for $14.99/bottle. This is a KILLER price. It’s also pretty close to my wholesale cost. You would be hard pressed to find another wine with similar accolades for the same price. I’m as happy as a school girl that I got this wine.

Today I’m featuring the Firestone Walker Double Jack Double IPA 22oz Bottle. Originally, I was going to feature the Firestone Walker Sucaba, but when everyone found out we had it in stock we basically sold out. There’s still a little left, but not enough for a feature. Nevertheless, the Double Jack is an INCREDIBLE beer. Ratebeer.com scored it 100pts and I’m going to put it on sale for $6.99/bottle. Like the Sucaba, the Double Jack is limited and very hard to get. We recently got involved with some beer clubs and they have been grabbing up these beers before we even get a chance to feature them. I’m not complaining, I’m just giving you a heads up on availability.
